Wiz Khalifa’s mixtape OJ & Kush

Wiz Khalifa released his latest album today, “OJ & Kush”. Not his best work in my eyes. By no doubt in my mind I like his previous mixtape “Deal or No Deal” more than this one. I am not saying that this mixtape sucks. There are some good songs on this mixtape. It just seems like he has changed his vibe on this mixtape compared to “Deal or No Deal”. This mixtape has more of that laid back vibe to it, where most of his songs are focused on blazing. One extra thing I didn’t like about this mixtape is the fact that for a good amount of songs he had a 40 second skit at the beginning. Personally, I am not a big fan of that kind of stuff. I like to get into the songs immediately.
Those were my cons, but this mixtape still has pros. He definitely maintained that flow and swagger we all like form Wiz Khalifa. The ratio of good songs to total songs might not be like Deal or No Deal, but we can always depend on Wiz Khalifa be consistent and provide us with a good mixtape compared to all the other releases that only contain two good songs.

Check out my following posts for the songs that I liked.

March Overload Featuring Drake, K-oz, Rick Ross, Lil wayne, Ludacris, and Slim Thug

March Overdose Featuring Drake, K-oz, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Lil wayne, and Slim Thug. This mixtape is sick. It has all the banger from March 2010. I suggest everyone add this mixtape to their collection.

Sean Brown’s Mixtape “First In Line”

A 23 year old rapper, emerging from the city lights of Los Angeles, Sean Brown has this fresh, unique and fearless style to hip hop. This mixtape is cool in the sense that it is a story within itself. There are three phases to this mixtape: The Struggle, The Drama, and The Success. He takes on this adventure as to what troubles he went through, physically and emotionally. After the struggle comes the drama, and this is where mainly all the R&B is in this mixtape. From there comes the Success. He raps about what helped him make it and his ideology towards becoming successful in the game. Listen to these six songs off his latest mixtape “First in Line” and you will most probably agree with me that Sean Brown is legit.

Skeme – You Already Know (All Rap’d Up)

“I don’t chase pussy so just throw the pussy at me”

Repping Inglewood, Skeme’s new mixtape “All Rap’d Up” is dope. I can’t stop listening to this song. The beat is funky, but good. On top of that, their flow on the beat is sick.

Dubby – “Hi I’m Dubby” Mixtape

The first song that got me interested in Dubby is “The City is MIne (remix)”. He has this unique flow and a voice that are complimentary to each other. His latest mixtape, “Hi I’m Dubby”, was released yesterday. Overall I would have to say its decent. Not bad for a first release. I like 4 of the songs on the mixtape and these are them.

1. Hi, I’m Dubby

2. Give You the Word (ft. Johnny and Tyler Gary)

3. Hater Hater (ft. Young Rook & Mucho Deniro)

4. Swaggin’ (Produced by K.E)

Kwame Katana “I Just Wanna Be Me” Mixtape

Its been a while since I have done a mixtape review, but here we go. You guys definitely need to download this mixtap off datpiff (link). This is overall a good mixtape. It has a good mix of classic beats in which he does a good job rhyming over. This mixtape is the perfect mix of hip-hop and R&B. When I say hip hop, it is not radio play or non nonsensical music. Top make things even better, I would have to say that 80% of the songs on this mixtape are good. Here is a preview of his album, and the songs I think are really good.

He Don’t Know (This would have to be one of his best song on the Mixtape)

My Everything
(This would have to be one of his best song on the Mixtape)

Its My Time (Good cover over the Nas Beat)

From Me to You (I love the So Much Pain beat and I just had to throw this on here)

Lambo to a Corvette (This would have to be one of his best song on the Mixtape)

Illroots Interview with The Cool Kids

The Cool Kids discuss their new album “Black Roc 2″. They got me pretty psyched for their new album. I was not able to figure out when the album will come out, but they said they are pretty much done. They also discuss the whole Tiger Woods situation which is pretty funny.

Lil Wayne Rebirth Review

So I hope you guys have been able to go through the Lil Wayne rock album “Rebirth”. If you have not, check out my recent posts. I posted a link that forwards you to a Rebirth youtube playlist.

This album, really disappoints me because Lil Wayne could have spent all the time he did making this album into another rap album. Lil Wayne definately needs to stay away from guitars. The reason why I am disappointed is because after the release of Prom Queen, which was a really good song, Lil Wayne says that he will come out with a rock album. But there is no song on this album that is comparable to Prom Queen. That is the only “WOW” song on this album, and we have all heard it long ago. My picks for this album are Knock Out (feat. Niki Minaj), One Way Trip (feat. Kevin Rudolph), and Drop the World (feat. Eminem). One Way Trip definitely surprised me though, reminding me of his talent to rap.

A Taste of The Game’s R.E.D Album

The Game – Better Dayz

The Game feat Fabolous – Never Stop Hustlin’ (once i get a better version ill post it)

The Game – Big Money

The Game – Krazy

R.E.D, an acronym for “rededication”. After releasing L.A.X, the game proclaimed his official retirement from the game of hiphop. But now, he has finally come out of the shadows to show us how it is really done. To shows all these young catz what true hiphop is.On the week of October 31, The game managed to drop 4 mixtapes simultaneously. I have yet to go through all of them but will and post a review of them. And now he is dropping his new album, R.E.D soon. The album’s release date has been postponed to February 16, 2010.

I am particularly impressed with the song Better Dayz and Never Stop Hustlin’.

Drake – Runaway Girl will not be on “Thank Me Later”

This song was leaked, but news reports that this song will not be on Drake’s “Thank Me Later” album. However, this album will contain 4 songs from Drake’s “So Far So Gone” mixtape.Thank Me Later is said to debut on March 2010. I am pretty psyched for this albums release, especially since the release of “Forever”. What makes me so psyched for this album is that Drake stated that this album will be a level above “Forever”, and I really liked “Forever”. I know that people began to dislike Drake when he decided to join Young Money, but that should not matter. This move to young money is more than likely to create big opportunities for Drake.

Three days ago, Drake announced that he will be doing a collaboration with Jay-Z on a track called “Light It Up”. Ill keep you guys posted.

Wiz Khalifa (Deal or No Deal): I say Deal

This album is off the chain. I know that alot of people heard of wiz khalifa from say yeah, but the song that got me hooked to Wiz Khalifa was Ode to Naked Pop Stars, which is on his album Burn After Rolling; which really made me appreciate his flow.
But, this album takes everything to next level. Almost everything song on this album is good. The only song that I do not enjoy listening to is Moola and the Guape. Other than that, I have to say the top songs are This Plane, Chewy, Right Here (which I think is the underdog of the album), Red Carpet, Lose Control, and Superstar. As you have noticed, that is a grip of songs. What I like about this album is the fact that it is not your typical R&B. He has perfectly meshed his swagger, hip-hop, and R&B together to create this unique flow which is soothing and enjoyable to the ear. I have been listening to this album everyday since it was released, and have yet to be sick of it. I would like to see Wiz Khalfa excel at his game and hopefully come out with another mixtape soon. This album has definitely placed Wiz Khalifa on the radar and I would recommend everyone to go out and buy his album.

Here is a youtube playlist of his album: Wiz Khalifa- Deal or No Deal Playlist

A link to purchase the album will be posted soon.
